Galeries Lafayette
The school and ludoteca are located on the outskirts of the Meudon-la-Forêt housing complex, built in the early 1960s by Fernand Pouillon and Robert Auzelle. The project is part of an effort to extend this 20th-century heritage by proposing a new urban square that continues the existing ones and incorporates the materiality of Pouillon’s buildings with stone facades.
The construction principle of the buildings combines a mix of concrete (floors, street-facing facades) and wood (frameworks, garden-facing facades), highlighting bio-sourced (wood) and geo-sourced (stone from a quarry in Oise) materials. This allows the project to meet the requirements of the PassivHaus label (airtightness and highly effective insulation) while also adhering to a frugality approach.
