DJE House
In the choice of construction materials, the origin of the materials is a crucial criterion for reducing transportation and therefore carbon footprint. We therefore prioritize the use of local materials, which also contributes to the economic prosperity of the area. Here, for example, the Salève provides aggregates and sands to several concrete plants located a few kilometers from the site.
Concrete will thus be used for all the walls of the house, but will only be visible on the ground floor. In addition to its structural qualities, the formwork will be meticulously crafted and detailed to achieve a high-quality architectural concrete, which will receive a clear varnish.
As for the first floor (R+1), the walls will be covered with a light natural spruce wood cladding, extending to the height of the ground floor openings and covering 2/3 of the total construction.
The exterior woodwork of the building, as well as the terrace pergola, are made of natural light spruce wood.
